10,887 churches, data built 2026-11-03. The map is an independent, non-commercial project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any denomination.
Church data
- Denomination directories: the public directories of the PCA, OPC, URCNA, CREC, ARP, RPCNA and WCA. PCA locations are geocoded from street addresses, and some CREC street addresses were read from each church’s own website.
- Baptist lists: the Reformed Baptist Churches directory (public domain), the Founders church search (churches listing the 1689 Confession only) and the FIRE member list. These are self-declared or volunteer-kept, and churches listed with no confession are shown as Calvinistic Baptist.
- OpenStreetMap: all other churches, including churches found by “Reformed” in their name. A name alone doesn’t show a church is active or confessional, and bare “Reformed” names in historically German Reformed areas were left out because most are now United Church of Christ. © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL.
- Church websites: a few churches with no denomination in OpenStreetMap are labeled from their own homepage.
- Geocoding: US Census Bureau Geocoder, and Nominatim (data © OpenStreetMap contributors). State and city fields come from Census cartographic boundary files, and “Near you” uses the Census Gazetteer files. This product uses Census Bureau data but is not endorsed or certified by the Census Bureau.
- Map: OpenFreeMap, OpenMapTiles, OpenStreetMap.
Privacy
The site has no accounts, cookies, analytics or ads. “Near you” looks up cities and ZIP codes inside your browser. A street address is sent through this site to the US Census Bureau geocoder to find its coordinates; this site does not log or store it. “Use my location” stays in your browser. The feedback form sends only what you type, plus the church you picked; your IP address isn’t stored.

Known gaps
Churches of the CRCNA, RCA, PC(USA), EPC and ECO, which have no directory this map can use, appear only where OpenStreetMap or a church’s own website identifies them, so most are missing or shown as “denomination not specified”. A pin’s denomination is what its source says today and may be out of date.
The 2026 EPC split
In June 2026 the Evangelical Presbyterian Church’s General Assembly approved a Pastoral Letter allowing church courts to consider for ordination candidates whose same-sex attraction is “unindulged, repented of, and mortified.” Reports put the vote at about 57% to 43%. Elders opposed to it formed the Westminster Churches of America, which held its convening synod in October 2026.
The map shows the churches the WCA’s own directory lists as pending dismissal from the EPC, each marked as such. Dismissal takes months and a church’s stage is usually not public, so a pin may change. Other churches are reported to be leaving for the PCA, the ARP or a separate group, and those are not separated out here. Many EPC churches are staying, and the EPC disputes how critics describe the letter. Most reporting so far comes from The Presbyterian Plumb Line, which opposes the Assembly’s action.
Licence
The church database is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. Download it as CSV. Reuse must credit this project and OpenStreetMap contributors, and adapted databases must be shared under the same licence.
Confessions
A church’s confession is its denomination’s standard unless its own listing says otherwise: Westminster Standards for the PCA, OPC, ARP, RPCNA, EPC, WCA, Bible Presbyterian and Free Presbyterian churches (some amend a few chapters); the Three Forms of Unity for the URCNA, CRCNA, RCUS, RCA and the smaller Dutch Reformed bodies; the Book of Confessions for PC(USA) and ECO; the Cumberland Presbyterian Confession for the Cumberland church. The RCA also holds the Belhar Confession as a standard, and it is part of the PC(USA) Book of Confessions; the CRCNA adopted Belhar only as an ecumenical faith declaration, so it isn’t counted there. The CREC allows several confessions and doesn’t publish which each church holds. Reformed Baptist and Calvinistic Baptist confessions come from each church’s listing in the Reformed Baptist Churches directory; Founders listings are those naming the 1689 Confession. The ecumenical creeds (Apostles’, Nicene and Athanasian) are held by essentially every church on the map, so they aren’t listed.
Belief positions
Values describe each denomination’s official documents, checked November 2026, not any individual congregation. “Independent churches and small Reformed bodies” have no shared position, so no values are shown; check the church. “Varies” means the body leaves the matter to congregations, presbyteries, classes or individuals. “No statement / unknown” means no official statement was found; it does not imply support. Churches marked “denomination not specified” have no belief values.
